BMFA Indoor Scale Nationals, 27th April 2003 - Part 2
Peter Smart entered this beautifully finished De Havilland
D.H.6 in the Electric/CO2 class. Power was from a
Gasparin CO2 motor.
Peter also had his Piper Cheyanne flying extremely well in the
open rubber class, and it was getting quite a lot more height than last year.
The model eventually placed fourth in class.
Peter's Pistachio entry was one of those where without the documentation to prove it,
the judges would never believe the colour scheme featured! The aircraft in
question is an ASK 14, and the reason for the bizzare scheme was apparently
to encourage the use of condoms! The model is all foam, and decorated with felt pens.
Mike Goldby's familiar D.H.9A was flying as well as I have seen it. The model
got the top static score, and when added to the marks from the flight
during which these pictures were taken, the total was good
enough for first place in class.
Divs Masters came second in Open Rubber with his marvellously detailed Sopwith Triplane.
This model got the highest static score in the class and flew excellently.
Dave Causer had his highly detailed CO2 powered Sopwith Camel flying nicely,
and finished second in class.
Mike Havard entered a pair of Piper Vagabonds, one in Peanut, one
in Pistachio. This is the bigger one (I think!)
Peter Iliffe brought along the bones of his latest masterpiece for
us to look at. This one is a DFW B1 built with a scale structure - you
can see that Peter likes cutting wing ribs out!
Weight so far is 40 grams, not at all bad considering the large wing area.
Power will be a Gasparin GM 120 CO2 motor.
